The Kirkwood Starlight Walk, Huddersfield’s beloved fundraising tradition, is set to make its dazzling return this summer with a new name and an enchanting twist.

Taking place on Saturday, 5th July 2025, at the iconic John Smith’s Stadium, this year’s event promises to be the most memorable yet.

A Legacy of Support and Celebration

For over 15 years, The Kirkwood’s night-time walk has turned Huddersfield’s streets into a vibrant celebration of life, community, and remembrance.

Formerly known as The Kirkwood Memory Walk, the event has been reimagined to captivate new audiences while continuing to honour those who’ve been part of its rich history.

“Our new name, The Kirkwood Starlight Walk, is unique and memorable,” said Rachael Savage, Events Manager at The Kirkwood. “We hope it will inspire both newcomers and those who’ve supported us before to take part in what promises to be a magical evening.”

Early Bird Offer

For a limited time, participants can secure their spot at a discounted Early Bird rate of just £7 (plus booking fees).

This offer includes a complimentary Starlight Walk T-shirt and a fundraising pack filled with tips to maximise your impact.

Canine companions are also welcome to join the fun for free, provided they’re registered in advance.

The Early Bird offer ends on Sunday, 6th March.

A Night to Remember

The Kirkwood Starlight Walk features two route options, 6 or 10 miles, ensuring there’s something for everyone.

Along the way, participants will experience new light shows, captivating decorations, and unique opportunities to honour loved ones.

The festivities begin at 8 pm with registration, followed by entertainment to set the mood.

The walk officially kicks off at 10 pm, transforming the streets into a carnival of hope and unity under the stars.

In 2024, this flagship event raised over £135,000, helping The Kirkwood provide 24/7 specialist nursing care, emotional support, and cherished moments for patients and families across Kirklees.

“This isn’t just a walk—it’s a movement,” Rachael emphasised. “Every step taken supports life, shares love, and creates hope for those in need. Walking under the stars with hundreds of others is an unforgettable experience that brings us all closer as a community.”
