Exploring Football, Data and Inclusive Art
A new exhibition coming to The Media Centre this March will invite visitors to experience football in a completely different way.
Touchline Memories, created by Onewildcard UK, transforms iconic football moments into tactile artworks that can be explored not only visually but also through touch.
The exhibition combines sport, data and design to create embossed pieces that translate the movement, geometry and drama of football into striking physical compositions.
At a time when most sporting moments are watched on screens and quickly archived online, this project asks a simple but powerful question: what if those moments could become objects that people can physically experience?
Football Moments You Can Feel
Each artwork in Touchline Memories is created using data drawn from famous moments in football.
Player movements, ball trajectories and spatial patterns are transformed into sculptural forms and textured surfaces.
What makes the exhibition particularly distinctive is its inclusive design.
The embossed artworks include Braille and tactile elements, allowing visitors who are blind or visually impaired to explore them as well as those who experience the pieces visually.
The result is an exhibition that expands how sporting stories can be told, moving beyond traditional imagery to something that can literally be felt.
Rethinking How Sport Is Experienced
Project creator Kayode Olowu says the exhibition grew from an interest in how memories of sport are usually captured and shared.
“Sport moments are usually consumed visually and then archived digitally,” he explains.
“With Touchline Memories, we are experimenting with how those moments can become physical artefacts, something you can stand in front of, touch, and experience differently.”
By combining sport, data visualisation, art and accessibility, the exhibition opens up new ways of thinking about storytelling in football and how communities remember shared sporting experiences.

Connecting Sport, Creativity and Community
Football has long played an important role in bringing people together across communities.
Touchline Memories taps into that shared passion while also highlighting how creative approaches can make cultural experiences more inclusive.
For Huddersfield residents, the exhibition offers a chance to see how technology, art and sport can intersect in unexpected ways and to experience football from an entirely new perspective.
Members of the public and local organisations are welcome to visit during the exhibition period.
