KLTV takes you inside the Arcade Pop-Up in Dewsbury’s Princess of Wales Shopping Centre — a vibrant, creative space open to the public.

Previously the town’s Job Centre, the transformed unit now offers a spacious exhibition area, multiple meeting rooms, kitchen facilities and even a huge first-floor events space.

The Pop-Up was set up whilst the Dewsbury Arcade undergoes a £4.5m refurbishment with the help of a National Lottery Heritage Fund grant to Kirklees Council.

With its beautiful roof and ironwork, the Arcade is close to many Dewsbury residents’ hearts. Built in 1899 by architect Albert Holmes Kirk, it was a popular town centre thoroughfare right through to 2014

The Arcade is set to re-open in the spring of 2026 as the first community-run shopping centre in the country.

In this video, we shine a spotlight on the artists, makers and local talents currently exhibiting their work inside The Arcade Pop-Up.

From historical displays and visuals of The Arcade’s future redevelopment, to artwork created by local community artists and artefacts discovered during restoration, there’s plenty to explore.

The Arcade Pop-Up is set to host regular community events throughout the year. While hours may vary, the space is usually open on Wednesdays, Fridays and occasional Saturdays between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm.
