Ofsted’s latest report highlights strong relationships between staff and pupils, good attendance and behaviour, and a wide range of opportunities beyond the classroom.
North Huddersfield Trust School has been praised by Ofsted for the positive culture running through its school community and the experiences it offers pupils.
Inspectors visited the school in July 2026 for a thorough look at everyday life across NHTS.
Their published report recognises the hard work and commitment of staff, and highlights pupils’ experiences, relationships, behaviour, enrichment and the school’s curriculum.
Pupils proud of their community
The positive experience of pupils was a central theme of the inspection.
The report states: “Pupils enjoy attending North Huddersfield Trust School. They are proud of their diverse school community. Pupils get along well and respect each other.”
Inspectors also noted that “staff form positive relationships with pupils”.
They found that pupils attend regularly because they value what the school offers, and that pupils “also behave well”.
Life beyond the classroom
Pupils spoke enthusiastically to inspectors about the range of opportunities available to them outside lessons.
The report highlights trips, rewards and enrichment, including careers events, sport, residential experiences, clubs and leadership roles.
On the role of student leaders, Ofsted stated: “Pupil leadership is meaningful.”
A broad and ambitious curriculum
The school’s commitment to a broad, ambitious and well-structured curriculum was identified as another key strength.
Ofsted found: “The curriculum is carefully sequenced and sets out the important knowledge that pupils should learn. It is broad and balanced. Pupils develop their skills and knowledge over time.”
Headteacher welcomes recognition
Andrew Fell, Headteacher of North Huddersfield Trust School, said the report reflected the efforts of the whole school community.
He said: “We are incredibly proud of the recognition given to our students, staff and wider school community.
“The report reflects the dedication of everyone at NHTS to ensure our students receive a high-quality education, alongside opportunities to develop their confidence, skills and aspirations.
“A huge thank you goes to our staff, students, families and wider community for the part you play in making NHTS such a positive place to learn and grow.”
