Institute for Equity announces inaugural event bringing together business, community and public sector leaders in Huddersfield

The Institute for Equity, University Centre has announced the launch of its first annual Yorkshire Inclusion Luncheon, a new event designed to bring together business leaders, community organisations and public sector representatives to explore how inclusion can be strengthened across the region.

The inaugural luncheon will take place on 15 October 2026 at the Cedar Court Hotel in Huddersfield and will incorporate the National Inclusion Awards©, recognising individuals and organisations making a significant contribution to equity, diversity and inclusion.

A focus on leadership and inclusion

Taking place during Black History Month, the event aims to provide a platform for discussions around organisational leadership, workplace culture and social inclusion, while celebrating examples of good practice from across Yorkshire.

Organisers say the luncheon has three key objectives:

• Bridge the gap between corporate decision-makers, grassroots organisations and the Institute for Equity, University Centre to encourage meaningful collaboration.
• Share practical strategies by showcasing initiatives that have successfully created fairer and more inclusive workplaces and communities.
• Empower the region by developing a blueprint for inclusion that positions Yorkshire as a leader in organisational, social and economic inclusion.

A major feature of the event will be the presentation of the National Inclusion Awards©, highlighting individuals and organisations that have demonstrated outstanding leadership and impact in advancing social justice, equity and inclusion.

Programme combines networking and keynote speakers

Guests will arrive from 12.30 pm, with the luncheon beginning at 1 pm.

The afternoon programme will include keynote speakers, networking opportunities, interactive ice-breaking sessions and the presentation of the National Inclusion Awards©, alongside a four-course meal.

Bringing together leaders from across Yorkshire

The event is aimed at a broad audience, including business owners, senior executives, finance, audit and risk managers, human resources professionals, community leaders and individuals with an interest in creating more inclusive organisations and communities.

Organisers say the luncheon will also provide an opportunity for employers to explore ways of attracting and retaining diverse talent while building more inclusive workplace cultures.

The event is being organised in collaboration with regional stakeholders, including representatives from the top 100 businesses in Kirklees, the West Yorkshire Combined Authority (WYCA) and the Institute for Equity’s Yorkshire Inclusion Network©.

Event to be held in Huddersfield

The Yorkshire Inclusion Luncheon will take place in the Halifax Suite at the Cedar Court Hotel, Huddersfield, located at Ainley Top, close to Junction 24 of the M62.
