In May 2025, in Huddersfield, a diverse group of community organisers, campaigners, and activists gathered for the Conference of Resistance to launch the People’s Alliance for Change and Equality (PACE). The new movement aims to unite local campaigns, trade union members, and social groups across Kirklees around shared goals for community-led change.
Guest speakers included Jeremy Corbyn (Independent MP for Islington North), Claudia Webbe (former Independent MP for Leicester East), Salma Yaqoob (Stop the War), Jamie Driscoll (Former North of Tyne Mayor), Alan Gibbons (Liverpool Community Independents), Iqbal Mohamed (anti-war Independent MP for Dewsbury and Batley), Linsay Taylor (MEND) and Abubakr Nanabawa (Muslim Vote).
