The Ben Kinsella Trust invites local families to a powerful, free evening session on 27th August, offering practical tools to help protect young people from violence and exploitation.

Parents, carers, and concerned community members are invited to a free, two-hour workshop designed to help them better understand and prevent the risks facing young people today.

Hosted by The Ben Kinsella Trust, the session will take place on Tuesday, 27th August from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and promises to be a vital event for anyone who wants to be part of the solution to knife crime and child exploitation.

This interactive and informative workshop will provide attendees with the knowledge and confidence to spot early warning signs, start meaningful conversations with young people, and take collective action to help create safer communities.

• Understanding knife crime through the eyes of young people

• Spotting the signs and recognising the stages of child exploitation

• Gangs, gang life, and the factors that draw young people in

• Exploring the links between trauma and exploitation

• Navigating online dangers, from social media to gang-influenced music and slang

• Managing peer conflict and understanding how ‘issues’ can escalate

• Approaching difficult conversations with care and confidence

• The SAFE ‘T’s method – a practical approach to helping young people stay safe

• Accessing further support and resources for ongoing help

This session is not only educational but empowering, giving parents and carers tools they can use immediately to support their children and better understand the world they are growing up in.

The Ben Kinsella Trust: A Legacy of Change

The workshop is delivered by The Ben Kinsella Trust, a leading anti-knife crime charity founded in memory of Ben Kinsella, who was stabbed to death at just 16 years old in 2008.

Ben had been out celebrating the end of his GCSEs when he was attacked in an unprovoked act of violence by older teenagers.

His murder shocked the nation and led his family to begin a tireless campaign for change.

Since then, the Trust has worked to educate thousands of young people on the dangers of knife crime and to challenge the harmful myths surrounding it.

Through immersive, experience-led workshops, the Trust helps young people understand the real consequences of violence for both victims and offenders.

Their work strengthens peer support systems, encourages young people to reject carrying weapons, and gives them the confidence to make positive life choices.

But preventing knife crime is not something any single person or organisation can do alone.

That’s why the Trust also focuses on equipping parents, carers, teachers, and professionals with the knowledge and confidence to tackle these issues head-on.
