Kirklees College will begin welcoming prospective students and their families to its first Open Days of the academic year next weekend.

The Huddersfield Centres will open their doors on Saturday, 16 November, followed by the Dewsbury Centres on Saturday, 23 November.

Open Days Schedule and Attendance

The upcoming Open Days are a prime opportunity for prospective students and their families to explore these facilities and learn more about the courses and training available.

The Huddersfield Centres will be open on 16 November from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm, with the last entry at 12:30 pm.

The Dewsbury Centres will follow on 23 November from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm, with the last entry at noon. Free tickets are available for booking on the Kirklees College website.

Diverse Campuses and Specialised Facilities

The college boasts five specialist centres tailored to specific trades and industries: the Brunel Construction Centre, Engineering Centre, Process Manufacturing Centre, Taylor Hill Animal Centre, and the Pioneer Higher Skills Centre, which focuses on higher education courses.

The college prides itself on its state-of-the-art training facilities, supported by significant investments.

Recent enhancements funded by the government’s Local Skills Improvement Fund (LSIF) include new digital equipment for various fields such as construction, engineering, manufacturing, creative industries, teaching and learning, and health and social care.

Highlights include a digital music production suite, VR headsets, 3D printers, robotic arms for engineering and process manufacturing, and an Anatomage table that simulates the human body for health and social care students.

Hands-On Learning Experience

Kirklees College offers well-established practical training environments, such as fully functioning hair and beauty salons at the Huddersfield Centre and Pioneer Higher Skills Centre, where students practice on real clients.

The Huddersfield Centre also features a mock hospital ward designed for T Level Health students, allowing them to train in a realistic setting with working dummies.

Additionally, the college provides two mock nurseries, a training restaurant called Landings 72 for hospitality and catering students, and a mock air cabin for travel and tourism students.
