Following its launch in September 2021, Kirklees Concert Season is announcing its programme for 2022, bringing many events and concerts to Huddersfield and Dewsbury Town Halls.
The partnership between Kirklees Council and Opera North promises to bring the Orchestra to the Huddersfield and Dewsbury stages this season, with a mix of orchestral, chamber and organ concerts available.
The concert season will provide a unique musical experience for the residents of Kirklees and surrounding areas.
With Covid-19 meaning a full season was lost during 2020-21, the 2021-22 Kirklees Concert Season began in September 2021 with a full programme of orchestral, chamber and organ concerts.
The 2021/22 season brings the region closer to the Kirklees Year of Music 2023, which aims to put the region on the map musically and culturally.
‘What’s On’
As we head into the rest of 2022, the Kirklees Concert Season is holding a number of special events across the spring, with the concert season even providing special rate tickets for some of its orchestral concerts, with attendees under 30 and 16 costing just £4 and £1 per ticket.
Some of the special events across the region include:
• Opera North Orchestra: Shostakovich & Bartók – Huddersfield Town Hall – Sunday 27th February
• David Pipe, Organist – Huddersfield Town Hall – Monday 14th March & 28th March
• Opera North Orchestra: The Enigma Variations – Huddersfield Town Hall – Thursday 7th April

‘Variety and Balance’
Garry Walker, the Music Director of Opera North, says: “I’m delighted to be, at last, back in Kirklees and able to bring this great selection of programmes to our beloved audiences.
“We’ve missed you! I’m particularly proud of the variety and balance of the overall Season, which will show off the flexibility, excellence and virtuosity of our Orchestra and Chorus.
“I feel there’s something here for everyone. The last year has been incredibly tough for us all – for Opera North, for our audiences and for our communities – so it is with a real sense of enthusiasm that we return to live music-making with audiences.”
