Kirklees Council is calling on residents to participate in shaping the council’s financial planning by providing their input on the latest budget proposals.

Residents and those working within the borough are encouraged to complete an online survey.

This survey offers detailed information about the council’s financial position, as well as its spending and savings proposals for the upcoming financial year.

Earlier this week, the council’s Cabinet approved a draft budget for the 2025/26 financial year.

This budget outlines the council’s plans for funding essential services such as social care for children and adults, local road maintenance, and investments in Kirklees’ economy over the next few years.

The feedback collected through the survey will help councillors understand what services are most important to citizens before finalising the budget in a full council meeting scheduled for March 2025.

Local Views and Priorities

Councillor Carole Pattison, Leader of the Council, stated, “We have set out our budget proposals for next year and we want to hear from as many people as possible.

“Before we make any final decisions, we want to hear local views about your priorities for spending.”

Councillor Graham Turner, Cabinet Member for Finance & Regeneration, added, “Local authorities throughout the country are facing challenges and difficult decisions.

“Setting our budget is one of the most important decisions we face.

“That’s why it is so important that we hear from as many residents as possible to help us shape our budget plans.”

The survey is currently live and will remain open until midnight on Wednesday, 15 January 2025.
