Council Leader David Sheard has announced the make-up of his Cabinet and the portfolios.
As the leader, he will share responsibility with Deputy Leader Shabir Pandor for the overall strategy and strategic resources, the new council, and regional issues.
He has added Cllr Cathy Scott to his Cabinet, and she will share the Adults and Public Health portfolio with Cllr Viv Kendrick. Cllr Scott will also have responsibility for the Democracy Commission work.
The full list of Cabinet and their responsibilities are:
Cllr Erin Hill – Children (statutory responsibility for Children)
Cllr Masood Ahmed – Children
Cllr Cathy Scott – Adults and Public Health plus Cabinet lead on Democracy Commission
Cllr Viv Kendrick – Adults and Public Health (statutory responsibility)
Cllr Naheed Mather – Economy (Strategic Housing, Regeneration and Enforcement)
Cllr Peter McBride – Economy (Strategic Planning, Regeneration and Transport)
Cllr Musarrat Khan – Corporate (Place, Environment, and Customer Contact Services)
Cllr Graham Turner – Corporate (Place, Environment and Customer Contact Services)
Cllr Sheard said: “This is still a time of unprecedented challenge to the council, to transform the way we deliver services to ensure they are sustainable, to engage partners to help us and to achieve huge savings targets is an enormous pressure.
“By adding Cllr Scott to the Cabinet, we gain a wealth of experience.
“Also, given the amount of transformation work taking place across Kirklees, the portfolios can benefit from two members sharing the lead.”
