Creative talent across the region given chance to shine as Tour de France Femmes heads to Britain
Local creative students are being offered a rare opportunity to showcase their work on a global stage by designing the official posters for next year’s Tour de France Femmes.
A landmark moment for Kirklees
As preparations build for the 2027 Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift, Kirklees is set to play a key role in the prestigious race route.
The announcement marks a significant moment not only for sport in the region but also for the wider cultural and creative opportunities it is expected to generate.
To coincide with this, Grand Départ GB, the organisation responsible for hosting both the Tour de France and Tour de France Femmes in Great Britain, has launched a poster design competition as part of its new social impact programme, Joy.
A global platform for emerging talent
The competition offers more than just recognition. The winning designs will be seen by millions of spectators lining the race routes, as well as television audiences across the UK and around the world.
With the Tour de France among the most-watched sporting events globally, organisers say the exposure could prove transformative for an emerging creative career.
Students are encouraged to think boldly and creatively, regardless of their familiarity with cycling.
The emphasis is on originality and design flair, with organisers highlighting the competition as a chance to change “the life of one local person looking to make their career in design.”
How to take part
Entries are open to further and higher education students studying art, design, graphics, photography and related creative disciplines. Submissions must be received by 5 pm on Friday 26 June 2026.
Participants are invited to visit the official Tour de France website for full details on how to enter.
What happens next?
Two winning designs will be unveiled in October in Paris during the official route presentation. Notably, next year’s races will both take place in the UK.
The first time in history that both the men’s and women’s events have been hosted in the same country outside France.
However, entrants should note that the Kirklees stage will form part of the women’s race, meaning submissions must be tailored specifically to the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift.
Wider benefits for the community
The poster competition is just one element of the Joy programme, which aims to deliver lasting benefits to local communities beyond the race itself.
Organisers have indicated that further opportunities for residents and organisations in Kirklees will be announced over the coming year.
For now, aspiring designers are being urged to seize the moment – with the chance to launch their creative careers on one of the world’s biggest sporting stages.
