By KLTV Newsdesk –
Kirklees Local Television (KLTV) is delighted to announce we have been awarded Media Production Social Enterprise of the Year 2022 as part of the SME News Northern Enterprise Awards.
Since its inception in 2011, KLTV has produced over 3,000 videos, thousands of articles, and has worked with communities all over Kirklees and across the UK.
As a social enterprise based at The Media Centre in Huddersfield, KLTV works with where people are, not where we think they should be. We collaborate and work directly with volunteers, freelancers, students, and anyone who wants to hone their skills and learn more about digital media production.
KLTV works with sole traders, and the voluntary, community, and private sectors. From grassroots organisations to the Civil Service, the company engages with all kinds of groups without losing sight of its core values and principles as a social enterprise.
Speaking on the awards, Milton Brown, CEO of Kirklees Local Television, said: “I think this award really validates the hard work of everyone who has contributed to KLTV over the last 11 years.
“We started with five people, two cameras, and an iMac. Over the years, we’ve won several awards and now this prestigious award, and I’d just like to thank everybody right from the conception of setting up this successful online digital tv station to those who are presently working with us. We want to continue inspiring the present and future generations”.
Christopher Morgan, Chief Editor at KLTV, added: “It’s a huge honour to be a part of the KLTV team winning this award.
“Since I joined five years ago, the company has just gone from strength to strength, and I can’t wait to see where we take it next”.
Niki Matthews, Chair of KLTV’s Board of Directors, said: “Receiving this plaque as recognition for the incredible work that KLTV undertakes is a fantastic accolade not just for KLTV as a business but for the whole team”.
From the volunteers who helped build the organisation in its humble beginnings, to the private sector organisations who have invested in us from the start, KLTV would like to say a huge thank you to everyone involved in making KLTV’s vision a reality.
KLTV would like to give special thanks to Kirklees Council. The University of Huddersfield, the Community Archives and Heritage Group, the Departments of International Trade and Transport, the Mid Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce, the Huddersfield Carnival Committee, and all of the local voluntary, social enterprises, CICs, individuals, and community groups who have supported us throughout our eleven-year journey.
KLTV and The Media Centre will be hosting a special presentation of the award, to acknowledge the hard work of the entire staff of both KLTV and celebrating the support we have had from The Media Centre in mid-January 2023 during the centre’s monthly #mynetwork meet up.
