Drivers urged to plan ahead as multiple schemes roll out across the district
A series of roadworks are set to begin across Kirklees throughout May, as part of ongoing efforts to maintain and improve the area’s transport infrastructure.
Residents are being encouraged to check live updates before travelling, with a range of works planned by the council, utility providers and private contractors. For full details, motorists can visit the council’s Roadworks webpage and view live maps showing current and upcoming disruptions.
Essential Works Across the District
Roadworks can take place for a variety of reasons, including resurfacing, repairs, layout improvements, and the replacement of traffic signs and road markings. In addition to council-led projects, other organisations are also supported in carrying out essential works, such as utility companies maintaining underground pipes and cables, and developers making necessary road access changes.
Despite the scale of activity, efforts are being made to minimise disruption and complete works as efficiently as possible.

Investing in Kirklees Transport
The planned works form part of wider investment in the region’s transport network, supporting broader regeneration projects across Kirklees town centres.
From repairing potholes to upgrading major routes and public transport hubs, the council says improving connectivity remains a priority. Current schemes include Huddersfield Rail Station Connections, the Huddersfield Southern Corridors, and upgrades along the A629 between Halifax and Huddersfield.
