New Yorkshire drama from John Godber

The Highwayman, a new play by John Godber, the writer of Bouncers, runs from Tuesday 13 to Wednesday 14 October 2026.
Set in York in 1769, at a time when the rich were growing richer and the poor poorer, the play follows John Swift as he struggles to support his family.
As his circumstances worsen, Swift is faced with the temptation of an easy fortune, and must decide whether he can resist it.
Jasmin Vardimon returns with Lullaby

Choreographer Jasmin Vardimon returns to the theatre on Friday 23 October 2026 with Lullaby, her new production.
The piece explores the emotional highs and lows of human life, blending wit, raw honesty and physical theatricality in the style for which Vardimon has become known internationally.
Half-term fun for families

Families can catch Plastic Drastic Fantastic on Wednesday 28 October 2026, during the October half term.
Presented by Akademi, the show combines dance, movement and play to explore the different ways plastic is affecting the world.
Places on offer for young performers

Alongside its main programme, the theatre has opened bookings for the autumn term of its Young Company, with spaces filling up.
The classes are open to young people aged six to 16 and give them the chance to develop performance skills, build confidence and create their own original theatre work.
Registration for the Young Company closes at 10 am on Monday 5 October 2026.
The full October line-up and tickets are available on the Lawrence Batley Theatre website.
