More than £13,000 raised enables over 800 people to enjoy a festive day out at the theatre

The Lawrence Batley Theatre (LBT) has announced the outstanding success of its 2025 Christmas Heroes appeal, which raised an impressive £13,232 thanks to the generosity of more than 600 donors.

The fundraising effort enabled LBT to work in partnership with 18 local community groups and charities, inviting over 800 people to experience the joy, magic and shared laughter of pantomime together.

Community generosity makes theatre accessible

Pantomime offers escapism, inspiration and a sense of togetherness, and LBT said the achievement would not have been possible without the kindness and continued support of the local community.

Families who needed it most were invited to attend the theatre’s 2025 pantomime, Beauty and the Beast.

Each visit included a VIP ticket, show programme and ice cream, creating what LBT described as a truly memorable and magical day out.

Many of the families involved shared how meaningful the experience was for them.

“Being able to come to the pantomime together has made such a difference to our happiness, thank you!” Said one group.

Another group highlighted the wider impact of the day: “The families had such a lovely time, and it was great to see the children and parents enjoying spending time together.”

Looking ahead to 2026

Christmas Heroes is a year-round appeal, and the Lawrence Batley Theatre has already set its sights on the future. In 2026, the appeal will raise funds to bring even more children and families to the theatre to enjoy the winter pantomime, Aladdin.

LBT hopes supporters will continue to be part of the journey, helping ensure the magic of theatre remains accessible to all.
