Huddersfield-based business, Simply Wigs has raised thousands in funds for Kirkwood Hospice through their wig bank scheme.
Simply Wigs, a family-run wig company based in Slaithwaite, Huddersfield, have raised an incredible £3,966 for Kirkwood Hospice through their wig bank scheme over the past two years.
The aim was to create a wig company that had knowledge and passion and was genuinely able to make a positive difference to people who wore wigs.
Since opening its wig bank in April 2019, the company has had over 2,000 people donate to its cause.
Donations
Through their wig bank service, people can donate wigs for just £5. This donation is then match funded by Simply Wigs, doubling the donation before it is kindly donated to The Kirkwood.
On the scheme and raising funds for The Kirkwood, Emma Garrard, co-founder of Simple Wigs, said: “The wig bank is a wonderful part of Simply Wigs and all of us here are super proud of this service that we offer to our hair loss community.
“There are over 2,000 people who have taken the time to pack up their wigs and write personalized and lovely letters.
“We are incredibly proud of this thought, effort and, ultimately, kindness.
“We are touched and moved by the letters that you write to us about your stories and the reasons for your donation. Every letter is read and replied to with a handwritten letter, acknowledging and valuing your donation.
“We are grateful for you, for your generosity and for being part of this circle of kindness within the Simply Wigs community.”
Since the bank opened, Simply wigs have been able to donate over £3,966.72 to The Kirkwood.
Emma added: “The Kirkwood plays such a crucial part in the local community, and it is a truly treasured place within Kirklees.”
‘Important Service’
The Kirkwood’s Community Fundraiser, Joanna Doherty, went along to present Simply Wigs with a fantastic cheque.
She said: “It’s fantastic what Simply Wigs are doing for the local community; they are providing an important service which does offer care to those who are suffering with hair loss.
“We are proud to have them in The Kirkwood movement, and we would like to thank Emma and her colleagues for all their hard work and fundraising.
“Everyone at The Kirkwood would like to thank Emma Garrard and the Simply Wigs team for their great work and all those who have generously donated.”
