Annual £2 photo competition invites animal lovers to showcase their furry, feathered and four-legged stars while supporting vital rescue work
The RSPCA Halifax, Huddersfield, Bradford & District Branch has launched its much-loved annual pet photo competition, calling on the local community to submit the best snaps of their beloved animals.
Now open for entries, the digital competition invites pet owners to show off their most photogenic companions — from cats and dogs to more unusual pets — with previous winners including Panda the hamster, Rosie the cat and Anakin the dog.
Open to All Pets — Big and Small
With categories for Cats, Dogs and All Other Pets, the competition is open to animals of every species. Entry costs just £2 per photo, and entries can be submitted online via the charity’s website.
Judges will be looking for clear, high-quality images with great backgrounds and, above all, happy pets.

Celebrating Pets and Community Spirit
Fay Gibbons, Digital Manager, said: “We’re excited to kick off the year with our annual photo competition and to see just how much our community adores their beloved pets.
“Over the years we have received an amazing variety of entries from dogs and cats to horses and even chickens! We can’t wait to crown our 2025 winners.
“We’ll be looking for clear, high-quality photos, beautiful backgrounds and most importantly, happy pets”
Supporting a Once-in-a-Generation Transformation
The competition closes on 19 January, with winners announced shortly afterwards.
All funds raised will go directly towards supporting animals cared for by the self-funded RSPCA Centre on Wade Street.
Proceeds will also help bring the Really Big ReFURb to life — a once-in-a-generation project designed to transform outdated facilities into a modern, long-term lifeline for rescue animals.
Entries help support the Really Big ReFURb and animals like Inka the French Bulldog, who required life-saving surgery and is now looking for her forever home!

“Our main aim is to rehabilitate unwanted, abandoned and abused animals and find them loving, permanent homes.
“We rely on public donations and the generosity of our local community to keep the doors of our animal centre open.”
