Kirklees, Thursday 18th April – The Mayor of Kirklees, Cllr Cahal Burke, led an evening of celebration alongside Kirklees Council’s Leader, Cathy Scott, and Chief Executive, Steve Mawson in a heartwarming event dedicated to honouring the selfless efforts of volunteers across the whole of Kirklees.

The evening commenced with a special moment, as volunteers were presented with beautifully engraved wooden plaques and certificates. In his remarks, the Mayor acknowledged the indispensable role of volunteers in Kirklees’ very essence, emphasising how their collective efforts have shaped the vibrant tapestry of the borough.
Reflecting on the event, Mayor Burke expressed, “Volunteering is tightly woven into the social fabric of our borough. I have been touched and humbled by the many volunteers I have met during my term of office. Their ‘just helping out’ or ‘lending a hand’ attitude embodies the essence of community spirit and significantly contributes to the wellbeing of our neighbourhoods.”
