Move More Kirklees is a social movement dedicated to improving health and wellbeing across the borough by championing the role of physical activity.
Its mission is to encourage people to engage in regular movement, enhancing both mental and physical wellbeing and making activity part of everyday life.
The initiative is currently focusing on two communities — Ravensthorpe and Fartown along the Leeds Road corridor.
Over the coming months, Move More Kirklees will work alongside local residents, groups and organisations to co-design and deliver initiatives that reflect the needs and strengths of each community.
This approach goes beyond traditional exercise. It aims to integrate movement into daily routines by collaborating with:
-
Libraries
-
GP surgeries
-
Community centres
-
Faith groups
-
Schools
It also explores opportunities to improve local places and spaces so that being active becomes easier and more accessible for everyone.
Conversations are already taking place with residents and community groups, and local people are encouraged to share their views through the online survey:
-
Ravensthorpe residents can complete the survey here.
-
Fartown and Leeds Road corridor residents can complete the survey here.
By getting involved, residents can help shape a healthier, more active future for their community.
