Live performances and Caribbean culture to take centre stage at special Huddersfield fundraiser

An evening of live music, Caribbean culture and community spirit will bring people together in Huddersfield this month as a special fundraising concert raises vital support for those affected by Hurricane Melissa.

Taking place at the Lawrence Batley Theatre on Thursday, 30 July, the event will feature an exciting programme of reggae, gospel, spoken word and live entertainment, with every ticket sold and donation helping communities impacted by the devastating storm.

The fundraiser is being organised in partnership with Huddersfield Literature Festival, Kirklees Local TV and the Lawrence Batley Theatre, with organisers hoping the evening will inspire generosity while celebrating the strength and resilience of the community.

An evening of music, food and celebration

Festivities begin at 6 pm in the theatre’s courtyard, where Lexus Audio Movements UK Soundsystem will provide the soundtrack as guests enjoy authentic Caribbean cuisine from Gravy’s Caribbean Flavour.

From 7.30 pm, nationally renowned host MC Foxy will lead audiences through an evening packed with live performances celebrating music, culture and togetherness.

Talented performers set to take the stage

The concert will showcase an impressive line-up of artists from across the region and beyond, including:

• Huddersfield Gospel Community Choir, bringing uplifting harmonies and inspirational performances.
• Dee Bo General, the internationally recognised recording artist and master of ceremonies.
• Ras Sista Highness, performing thought-provoking Jamaican spoken word.
• Monique, showcasing her talents as a saxophonist and vocalist.
• Shanté, whose powerful vocal performances have earned widespread acclaim.
• Positive Vybz, delivering headline live reggae music to close the night.

Supporting Hurricane Melissa relief efforts

As well as offering an unforgettable evening of entertainment, organisers hope the fundraiser will encourage people to stand in solidarity with those rebuilding their lives following Hurricane Melissa.

Tickets are priced between £5 and £10, making the event accessible while helping to maximise funds for the relief effort.
