In this episode of A Change is Gonna Come, Dr Milton Brown is joined by Jo Fisher and Ashlene Peltier to explore the groundbreaking work of DECKACY and its Neuro Coach programme.
The conversation looks at how the programme is working to challenge stigma and misunderstanding around neurodiversity within Black communities, while developing culturally relevant, strengths-based support for neurodivergent children, young people and families.
Ashlene shares her experience of completing the Neuro Coach training with distinction, including how the programme changed her perspective and helped her move away from a deficit-based approach towards recognising and building on the strengths of neurodivergent individuals.
Jo also discusses the ambition to train more Neuro Coaches, reach communities across Kirklees and ultimately expand the programme nationally.
