Children’s hospice launches low-cost charity shop in the Princess of Wales Shopping Centre, with most items priced at £3 or less.
Bargain-hunters in Dewsbury have a new reason to celebrate as Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice has opened a brand-new clearance charity shop in the town centre.
The new store, located at Unit 16, Princess of Wales Shopping Centre, promises unbeatable value for shoppers while raising vital funds to support children with life-shortening conditions and their families across West Yorkshire.
Big Savings, Bigger Impact
Designed as a dedicated clearance shop, the Dewsbury outlet offers clothing, accessories, homeware and books at heavily reduced prices, with most items costing £3 or less.
A small number of special ‘gold ticket’ items are priced separately.
The concept aims to make charitable shopping more accessible, allowing customers to enjoy affordable retail therapy while knowing that every purchase directly supports hospice care.
Official Opening Welcomed by Local MP
The shop was officially opened by Iqbal Mohamed MP, Member of Parliament for Dewsbury & Batley, who praised the hospice’s work and the importance of community support.
“It’s an absolute honour to be here to open this Forget Me Not shop,” he said.
“The work that Forget Me Not does is absolutely essential, and this charity relies on donations and the money raised through its shops to fund its amazing support for children and families across the region.”
A Win-Win for Shoppers and Families
Dawn Richardson, manager of the new Dewsbury shop, said the clearance model benefits everyone involved.
“We’re delighted to open this new store in Dewsbury,” she said.
“As a clearance shop, it’s a win-win — customers get amazing deals, and every penny goes towards supporting families who need us most. We can’t wait to welcome the community through our doors.”

She also highlighted the crucial role charity shops play in sustaining the hospice’s services.
“It will cost us £6.5 million to provide support for local children and families this year, and around 80 per cent of that has to be raised by ourselves through shops, fundraising and events,” she explained.
“Whether you’re donating your unwanted items, shopping for a bargain or volunteering your time, you’re making a real difference.”
Part of a Growing Network
The Dewsbury clearance shop joins Forget Me Not’s expanding network of charity shops across West Yorkshire, all of which help fund the hospice’s specialist care, emotional support and practical services for children and families at the most challenging times of their lives.
