A new, free business support programme has been launched for the Kirklees region, helping aspiring entrepreneurs and small businesses to start, run or grow their businesses.
Start-Up West Yorkshire aims to provide hands-on support to new and fledgling businesses up to three years old, with free access to workshops, seminars, dedicated one-to-one support, expertise, and networking opportunities.
Start-up West Yorkshire is delivered in partnership with AD:VENTURE, People Plus and business Kirklees.
The programme, which is led by the Mayor of West Yorkshire and the West Yorkshire Combined Authority covers Leeds, Bradford, Kirklees, Calderdale and Wakefield.
Marking the first in a series of regional events, the official launch of Start-Up West Yorkshire, Kirklees, will take place on 6 July at the Glass Box in Huddersfield.
The event is bookable through Eventbrite and open to anyone with an interest in starting or growing a business.
It’s an opportunity to meet the Start-Up West Yorkshire business support team, get advice on the day from experts in business and sign up for the programme.
A local professional photographer will also be on hand offering free headshots for attendees to use on their website or social media channels.

Inspiring
Ashleigh Barnes, who sought advice from Start-Up West Yorkshire for her sustainable interiors company Bee Brand designs, was inspired by her experience and will be sharing her journey from start-up to established business.
She said: “I needed support and that’s exactly what I received from Start-Up West Yorkshire. I am very grateful that the support programme exists and empowers those who want to drive their ambitions into the market.
“I have learned how to navigate and to be more in control of my business.”
‘Reap Huge Rewards’
Edward Highfield, Services Director – skills and regeneration Director will talk about the new service and what it means for the region.
Speaking on the event, Edward said: “Starting a new business can be daunting, but it can also reap huge rewards.
“The expertise and support Start-Up West Yorkshire provides helps new business owners step out on the right footing. Our region is known for its enterprising nature.
“What the service offers will enable more local people to access free advice to support business growth and inspire start-ups.”

Start-up West Yorkshire is part of the Mayor’s region-wide Enterprise West Yorkshire programme, a six-million-pound programme to encourage entrepreneurship and help people get the support that they need to build successful businesses
