The issue of young people involved in crime and serious violence is not going away and is a significant concern for many communities in Kirklees.
The Conflict Resolutions Annual Youth Awareness Conference is part of a broader strategy that addresses a wide spectrum of issues related to Youth Crime.
The one-day event at the University of Huddersfield’s Oastler Building invites schools, community leaders, politicians, police, and anybody invested in making their communities safer for young people.
The conference helps build relationships between those working in communities, schools, public sector agencies and others to ensure effective solutions are found. The young people attending had the opportunity to hear about some of the long-term consequences of becoming involved in crime and violence.
Ultimately, the aim of the conference is a positive one, by bringing people together to hear about some of the excellent work happening locally and hear from leading national speakers on practical approaches to tackling crime in local communities.
This conference is the 4th held so far and is organised by Howard Belafonte and Local Services 2 You (Ls2y), supported by partner organisations, including West Yorkshire Police and Third Sector Leaders Kirklees.
