A brand-new community dance group is set to launch in Deighton this September, offering local women the chance to get moving, make new friends and boost their wellbeing.
The Deighton Women’s Dance Troupe will welcome women of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to try their hand at a variety of dance styles, including Soca, Reggae, Jazz and Salsa.
Organisers say no previous dance experience is needed – just an enthusiasm for music, movement and community.
Sessions will run on Tuesdays throughout September at Northfield Hall Centre, HD2 1GS, with two time slots available: 1.30 pm-3 pm on the 8th and 15th, and 6.30 pm- 8 pm on the 22nd and 29th.
An introductory offer of £3 per session includes free tea and biscuits, giving attendees the chance to relax and socialise before or after taking to the floor.
The sessions are being delivered in partnership with the Darkwoods Foundation, with organisers hoping the group will become a regular fixture in the local community calendar, promoting fitness, friendship and empowerment among women in the area.
For more information, or to get involved, women interested in joining are encouraged to head to Northfield Hall Centre on one of the launch dates this September.
