New hub to support growing number of home-educating families with resources, workshops, and community connections

As children across the region return to classrooms this September, more and more families are making the choice — or finding the need — to educate their children at home.

Responding to this growing trend, Northorpe Hall Child and Family Trust has announced the launch of its brand-new Home Education Hub, designed to offer vital support and a sense of community to families pursuing home education.

Home Education on the Rise

The number of children being educated outside traditional schools is steadily increasing nationwide.

In England, 111,700 electively home-educated (EHE) children were recorded during the autumn term of 2024 — a rise of 21% compared with the previous year.

Closer to home, West Yorkshire now has more than 4,500 children being home-educated.

A Space for Support and Connection

Northorpe Hall is opening its doors to provide a dedicated space for families navigating home education.

The new Hub will serve as a welcoming, supportive environment where parents and carers can access resources, connect with others, and share learning experiences in an open and friendly setting.

Dipika Kaushal, CEO of Northorpe Hall, explained the importance of this new initiative: “At Northorpe Hall, we believe every child should have the chance to learn in a way that builds their curiosity, confidence, and wellbeing.

“This new Home Education Hub is our response to the growing need for a supportive community where home-educating families can connect, find resources, and reduce the feeling of isolation that can sometimes come with learning outside of a traditional school setting.”

She added: “We want to empower families by giving them the space, resources, and connections they need to help their children thrive on their own learning journeys.”

Free Open Day Invitation

To celebrate the launch, Northorpe Hall is hosting a FREE Open Day on Monday, 9th September, from 10am to 2pm. Families are warmly invited to attend and:

• Explore the Hub’s facilities and learning spaces

• Learn about workshops covering art, pottery, drama, LEGO, and wellbeing

• Meet and connect with other home-educating families

• Receive expert advice and guidance from Northorpe Hall’s team on how the Hub can support them
