Huddersfield Town News
The Terriers are currently 18th in the table, facing stiff competition from the likes of Derby County and Birmingham City in the battle to stay above the relegation drop zone.
Huddersfield’s last game was a good result. After an early opener from Lewis O’Brien, they stuck to their gameplan despite an equaliser coming from Brentford shortly after half time, earning a vital point against a team hunting for promotion.
There was a lot of action from Brentford, with a total of 15 shots compared to Huddersfield’s three. Despite this the Terriers held up well, showing they have the capability to defend well and stay ahead for long stretches of time.
The draw means that Huddersfield have now gone five games unbeaten.
The last time Huddersfield played Norwich was in September of last year. The Canaries took the win that game thanks to a late goal from Adam Idah.
Norwich City
Norwich is currently top of the table with a total of 84 points so far this season. It’s looking increasingly likely that Norwich will secure automatic promotion as they have been on strong form this year.
Despite crashing out of the Premier League last season, Norwich did manage to keep most of their key players which has been a huge benefit in this campaign.
As with most sides at the top, Norwich’s attacking threat is not to be taken lightly. One player that the Terriers will have to watch for is Finnish forward Teemu Pukki. The striker has had a total of 22 goals so far this season and is second on the leaderboard for goals so far.
Press Conference
Huddersfield Town Manager Carlos Corberán spoke to the press ahead of the game on Tuesday.
He praised the players for their performance in the previous game against Brentford, saying that “they played with a lot of dedication and a lot of strength.”
The manager also acknowledged that while Town have gone unbeaten the last five games, “It is important to keep this same level of mentality for every game that we go into.”
On Norwich City, he said: “They are playing with the same style as three years ago, they have kept the same team and added stronger players.
“They are a very strong team and one of the best in the Championship.”
Predictions
Huddersfield have had to change their lineup quite often due to various injury’s and it’s had a big impact on their season overall.
Conversely, Norwich have been pretty much rock solid, having changed very little from last season, and dominating as a result. This type of playstyle was like Leeds last season. As they pushed for the premier league, we saw that the team did not change very much unless needed.
Overall the results between Huddersfield and Norwich are remarkably close with a total of 13 wins to Huddersfield, 14 to Norwich and a total of 17 draws.
Both clubs have changed a lot over the years with both of them having recent stints in the Premier League, but legacy results are always something that should be considered.
For Huddersfield, this is going to be a similar game to Brentford. We have Norwich who are sitting nicely at the top of the table, but taking their foot of the gas at this point is not going to be an option for them.
Being top of the table and having dominated for most of the season, Norwich will likely be even tougher than Brentford and even less likely to pull their punches. It will take another strong defensive performance for Huddersfield to see this one through.
