Huddersfield Town head down south tonight to face Nottingham Forest in the 5th Round of the FA Cup. 19:30 kick-off.
Team News
The Terriers will be looking to not only reach the quarter-finals of the FA Cup for the first time since 1972, but also continue their unprecedented unbeaten run, which has now stretched to 18 games in all competitions.
Huddersfield’s last game came against Peterborough United in the Championship, where they defeated the relegation side 3-0. Early goals came in with quick succession and the game was a real showcase of just how well Huddersfield have been playing recently.
Something that manager Carlos Corberan mentioned in his after-match report was that he was focused on the Friday game over the FA Cup tie, which is a big decision that was needed to be made there.
However, with the number of games getting played at the moment, this is now leading to a lot of players getting tired, which is something the Terriers will need to be aware of.
Still, a big contribution to the unbeaten run has been Huddersfield’s ability to make smart, tactical substitutions thanks to squads’ depth and talent on display. So I’m sure the Terriers will be able to field a strong side regardless.
Nottingham Forest
Much like Huddersfield, Forest have had a great season overall and are playing very well right at the moment.
This is another team that has done really well in both the championship season and especially the FA Cup, convincingly knocking out both Arsenal and Leicester in previous rounds.
They are certainly a team to look out for this season and will be more than capable of giving the Terriers their toughest challenge yet.
In Nottingham’s last game they played against another top championship side, Sheffield United. After everyone thought that it was all over, Nottingham managed to get one in the back of the net in the 95th minute, leaving Sheffield shook and the Reds with a massive point.
One to Watch
One player to watch for Nottingham is Djed Spence, this player is currently on loan from Middlesbrough and there is a lot of eyes on him from massive clubs around the world including Arsenal, Tottenham, and even Bayern Munich.
This player really stands out with his box-to-box high work rates, and he even gets himself a goal every now and again, certainly a player to watch out for in tonight’s game.
Predictions
With both sides looking really good I think that this is going to be a great game tonight, Carlos mentioned that he was focused on the Friday game which of course worked out for him really well with Huddersfield taking 3 points there, so it will be interesting to see what the Terriers bring to tonight’s proceedings.
With how strong both teams are at the moment, I’m going to go with a rather bold prediction, and say this one’s going to penalities!
