Heartbreaking news, Carl. Bornean Orangutans have officially been classified as “critically endangered” – meaning they’re now on the very brink of extinction.
In fact, it’s projected that by 2025, the Bornean Orangutan population will have been reduced to a shocking 14% of what it was in the mid 70s.
For years, profit-hungry companies have been tearing down the orangutans’ forest habitat in Indonesia to make way for cheap paper and palm oil plantations. Now their brutal practices have driven these gentle animals to the very edge of extinction.
It’s so important that people know we’re on the verge of losing the orang-utans. We simply can’t let unchecked corporate greed silently wipe them from the face of the earth forever.
