Kirklees is gearing up for a ‘wheelie-exciting’ April with a host of free cycling events perfect for families, beginners, and those looking to build their confidence on two wheels.
From bike repairs to e-bike trials, there’s no better time to hop on and get involved.
🚲 Family Fun in Mirfield
Location: Crossley Fields Junior and Infant School, Mirfield
Dates: 7–11 April, 9 am – 2 pm daily
Free family cycling sessions will be running every day during the first week of the Easter holidays.
Open to beginners of all ages, these sessions are a great opportunity for children and their parents or carers to learn or improve their cycling skills in a safe and supportive environment.
Don’t have a bike? No problem! Bikes are available to borrow on the day.

Dr Bike: On-site for free safety checks, brake fixes and basic maintenance.

Bike Register: West Yorkshire Police will be registering bikes for free on 8 and 9 April, helping protect against theft.
🚴♀️ Ride into Easter in Slaithwaite
Location: Slaithwaite Fire Station, Huddersfield

These age-specific sessions are tailored to offer the best tuition possible, and yes – grown-ups get to join in too!

⚡ Try an E-Bike at Tolson Museum
Dates: 14 and 21 April
Location: Tolson Memorial Museum, Huddersfield
Curious about e-bikes? Try one for free with support from EPIKS (Environmental Projects in Kirklees). Each 45-minute session includes:
