Despite the relentless downpours on Saturday 2nd March, a crowd of over 150 people gathered to underscore the vital need for reopening Dewsbury Sports Centre. Located in the constituency of Council Leader Cathy Scott, the facility has been temporarily closed since September 2024, with the final decision scheduled for next month.
The Save DSC campaign group is advocating for the reopening of the dry side and the reinstatement of the pool.
Spokesperson Surraya Patel said: “The closure of this centre not only impacts lives in terms of health and well-being, but it also resonates across the town center. Local businesses have shown support today, highlighting the financial strain they are experiencing. It’s time to revive Dewsbury and restore the facility that was the heart of our community.”
