Six-mile fundraising challenge will visit six of Mirfield’s favourite hospitality venues
The Kirkwood is inviting people across Kirklees to put on their walking shoes, gather their friends and raise a glass for a great cause as its popular Pub Hop returns to Mirfield on Saturday 12 September.
Following the success of last year’s inaugural event, organisers are hoping to make the 2026 Pub Hop bigger than ever by doubling the number of participants for a fun-filled day celebrating Mirfield’s hospitality scene while raising vital funds for The Kirkwood.
Participants will follow a route of just over six miles, stopping at six popular venues across the town.
Along the way, they will be able to enjoy refreshments, collect stamps at each stop and experience the welcoming atmosphere of each venue, all while supporting local people living with life-limiting illnesses.
Six venues, one fundraising challenge
Each venue offers something different, giving participants the chance to discover some of Mirfield’s best-loved pubs and hospitality venues while supporting The Kirkwood.
Arthur’s Café provides walkers with an opportunity to relax beside the canal, with its café and bistro serving food and drinks.
The Pear Tree is known for its welcoming atmosphere, extensive drinks selection, food menu and spacious beer garden, while real ale enthusiasts can enjoy The Flowerpot, which is renowned for its selection of quality cask ales and picturesque riverside beer garden.
The Navigation Tavern, affectionately known as “The Navi”, is a popular community venue hosting live music, bingo and regular events throughout the year, alongside its reputation for friendly service and good food.
One of the oldest venues on the route, Knowl Club, has been part of the Mirfield community for more than a century.
Open to members and non-members, it is recognised for its award-winning beers, inclusion in the Good Beer Guide and popular annual beer festivals. Its long-standing commitment to supporting charitable causes makes it a fitting stop on the Pub Hop.
The route finishes at The OC, formerly known as the Old Colonial.
The established venue has expanded its real ale range over the past year and now hosts regular live music, weekly street food, quiz nights and a varied programme of events.
Raising funds for vital local care
The Kirkwood Pub Hop is about more than visiting local pubs. Every participant will help raise funds that enable The Kirkwood to continue providing specialist care and support to local people living with life-limiting illnesses, as well as supporting their families and loved ones.
For £25, participants will receive an exclusive Pub Hop T-shirt and a limited-edition branded glass, with every step helping to raise money for The Kirkwood’s vital services across Kirklees.
Anya Friis, Head of Fundraising with The Kirkwood, said: “After such a fantastic first year, we’re thrilled to be bringing The Kirkwood Pub Hop back for 2026. We’re hoping to double our numbers and make this year’s event bigger and better.
Events like this are only possible because of the incredible support we receive from our local community. By taking part, participants aren’t just enjoying a great day out; they’re helping us continue providing vital care and support to local people when they need it most. We hope to see as many people as possible raising a glass and raising funds for The Kirkwood this September.”
