After a limited programme of events last year, this year there will be two Civic Remembrance Sunday services in Kirklees. Kirklees Council has organised the usual Remembrance event in Huddersfield and another service in Dewsbury.
Huddersfield Parish Church
The Huddersfield Service of Remembrance will be hosted at Huddersfield Parish Church on Sunday 14 November at 10:50 am. The service, led by
Mayor of Kirklees, Cllr Nigel Patrick, will follow the Remembrance parade starting from Huddersfield Town Hall at 10:30 and will be continued at the Town Hall after the service too.
All attending the event must wear a mask unless exempt.
Dewsbury Service of Remembrance
The Dewsbury Service will be held at the Dewsbury Minister on Sunday 14 November, starting at 10:30 am.
The Remembrance parade starts from Dewsbury Town Hall at 10:20 am, reforming at the Memorial Gardens for a wreath-laying service after the service.
The Dewsbury Service of Remembrance starts at 10:30 am and will be led by Former Mayor of Kirklees, Jim Dodds. All attending the event must wear a mask unless exempt.
Armistice Day Services
In addition to the Huddersfield and Dewsbury Remembrance services, there will be additional Armistice Day Services on 11 November at Greenhead Park in Huddersfield and Memorial Gardens, Longcauseway in Dewsbury. The service has been organised by Royal British Legion.
The Armistice Day services will observe the national two-minute silence.
Mayor of Kirklees, Councillor Nigel Patrick, said: “Remembrance is an important way for us all to say thank you to those who have served in the past and present.
“I’m pleased that we are able to once again invite people to join us in paying their respects at Civic services, which is something I know is important to local people.
