KLTV was honoured to attend the Pro-Chancellor Installation and Awards Ceremony at the Institute for Equity, University Centre, a morning that marked a major milestone for the institution

At the heart of the ceremony was the inauguration of the university’s first Pro-Chancellor, renowned Huddersfield businessman Lindel Moralley ‘Johnny’ Flowers, founder of Ashbrow Garage Ltd.

Johnny’s journey, from arriving in Huddersfield in 1961 to a lifetime dedicated to business, education, and community service, perfectly reflects the resilience, regional pride, and commitment this institute stands for.

What stood out most was the university’s unmistakable people-first ethos. As the UK’s first specialist Higher Education Institution dedicated to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, it has the academic freedom to do something genuinely distinctive.

The event was a powerful reminder of the true magic of education, not just the transfer of knowledge, but its ability to change hearts, minds, and communities.
