Police are appealing for information after a male was seriously assaulted in a motorway ‘road rage’ incident in Leeds.
The victim, a 24-year-old man, needed immediate hospital treatment. He received a deep cut to his forehead after being punched by a man. The incident occurred on the slip road at Junction 29 of the M62 yesterday (24/5).
The incident has been said to take place from around 5.30 pm to 5.45 pm.
The victim had been driving his Ford Fiesta on the M62 when the suspect’s car joined the motorway at Junction 30 and an altercation took place.
The suspect car tailgated the victim and continuously flashed his headlights before overtaking and forcing him to stop In his tracks.
Thursday, 27 May 2021 | Week-Long Crackdown on County Lines Crime
Weapons, drugs, and cash were seized by West Yorkshire Police last week as part of a national crackdown on county lines crime.
The intensification week took place between Monday 17 May and Sunday 23 May and saw the Force make over 20 arrests and visit potentially vulnerable children.
Arrests made were for a variety of different offences, including possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.
The weapons which were seized included a Taser, machete and an electric stun gun.
Detective Superintendent Carl Galvin (Protective Services, Crime) is the Force lead for serious and organised crime, he said: “Through Programme Precision – which sees us working closely with partners to target serious and organised crime – we are making a significant difference to the communities of West Yorkshire.
“This week of action was important as it saw us intensify our efforts to bring offenders to justice and to safeguard victims – who are often young and/or vulnerable.
“It is, however, the sort of work we put in every day of the year.”
Thursday, 27 May 2021 | Pontefract Child Sex Offender Jailed for Over Five Years
Stuart Jones, a sex offender, has been jailed for over five years for a series of offences against children in the Pontefract area.
Jones admitted charges including three counts of sexual assault on a child, one count of sexual activity with a child and two counts of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.
The offences happened against two girls under the age of 13 in June 2019.
Jones also admitted to possessing an indecent image of a child and was further charged.
Appearing for sentencing at Leeds Crown Court on Thursday (27 May), Jones was jailed for five years and three months. He was also ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register and a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for life.
Speaking after the hearing, DC Nicola Hewitt of the Wakefield District Child Safeguarding Unit said: “We welcome the sentence handed down to Jones today for the abuse he inflicted.”
“Jones put his young and vulnerable victims through a truly horrendous ordeal.
“Throughout our dealings with him, he took no responsibility for his actions and showed no remorse.
“I am pleased that this jail sentence reflects the seriousness of his actions.
“In Wakefield, we have special teams of officers who work tirelessly to investigate crimes against children, and I would encourage anyone who has any information about sexual offending against children to contact the police via 101.
Tuesday 1 June 1 2021 | Appeal: Linked robbery offences, Kirklees
Police in Kirklees have issued images of a suspect as part of an ongoing investigation into a robbery and two attempted robberies.
Kirklees District CID would like to speak to anyone who recognises the man’s clothing or has information that might help identify him.
The images were taken from CCTV from a newsagents. At around 5.10 am in Holmfirth on April 10, a suspect threatened staff with an axe. He made off with cash and cigarettes.
Officers have linked the offence with an earlier attempted robbery at a post office and convenience store on Manchester Road in Linthwaite at about 3.40am, also on April 10, in which a suspect also threatened staff with an axe. He made off empty-handed after persons present refused to give him money.
This suspect has also been linked again with a car theft of a BMW car from Berry Brow in Huddersfield from 10 April, which was then used in an attempted ram raid at a convenience store in Golcar at around 4am on the same date.
