Council and utility firms to carry out essential works affecting roads and transport

A series of planned roadworks are scheduled across Kirklees throughout September, with projects ranging from surface dressing to gas main replacements.

The works are being carried out by Kirklees Council and partner organisations, including Northern Gas Networks and Avove.

Planned Works by Kirklees Council

Kirklees Council will undertake surface dressing across several locations during September, including:

• Lowood Lane, Batley

• Fenay Bridge Road, Lascelles Hall Road, Blackmoorfoot Road, St Andrew’s Road, Mayfield Avenue, Ravensknowle Road, Round Wood Avenue, Wakefield Road, Bay Close, Lingards Road, Yew Tree Road, Manchester Road (east and west), Huddersfield

• Haggroyd Lane, Holmfirth

In addition, a new pedestrian crossing will be installed on Valley Road, Liversedge.

Utility and Developer Works

• Northern Gas Networks: Gas mains replacement on Little Lane and Matthew Lane in Holmfirth (from 7 September), Bretton Street in Dewsbury, Wormald Street in Liversedge, and Jerusalem Road in Huddersfield.

• Avove: Water connection works on Thornton Lodge Road from 8–12 September.

Transport Investment

The council says the works form part of a wider programme of investment in transport infrastructure. The improvements, which include everything from pothole repairs to new transport hubs, are intended to support ongoing regeneration projects across the district.

Huddersfield Rail Station Closure

The Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU) continues in September, with Huddersfield Rail Station closed throughout the month.

Rail replacement buses are in operation, and drivers are advised to expect some disruption to surrounding roads. Passengers and motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and allow extra travel time.
