On Saturday, 11 July 2026, Safe Anchor Trust celebrated receiving The King’s Award for Voluntary Service – the highest honour awarded to volunteer groups across the UK.
This special event recognised the incredible dedication of the Trust’s volunteers, whose commitment over the past 30 years has helped care for Mirfield’s canals while providing life-changing canal boat experiences for people across the community.
Awarded in November 2025, the King’s Award for Voluntary Service is often described as the MBE for volunteer groups, recognising the outstanding impact volunteers have in improving wellbeing, promoting inclusion, and making waterways accessible to everyone.
