Huddersfield is in for a treat as Steve Goldman’s infamous exhibition of dreadful record covers returns to the town for 11 days in March and April.
From 23rd March to 2nd April 2023, the Huddersfield Literature Festival’s hub on Huddersfield Piazza will display the hilarious collection.
The exhibition will be open every day from 10 am to 4 pm, except on Sunday 2nd April, when it closes at 2 pm.
A Star is Born
Steve Goldman, a 55-year-old from Golcar in Huddersfield, first shared his collection with the world on Huddersfield Piazza in November 2021.
The collection received widespread media attention, featuring on Have I Got News For You, the BBC Home Page, The Guardian, and other national and local media outlets.
Since then, the exhibition has been on tour, visiting the Spode Museum in Stoke on Trent and the Shambala Festival, where it was a smash hit with thousands of summer festival goers, who loved voting for their favourite covers and posing for selfie recreations.
The exhibition has also built an ever-growing fan base, flying the flag for Huddersfield among vinyl enthusiasts worldwide through its Instagram page.
A book featuring select covers is in the works, published by Easy on the Eye Books, a publisher Steve chose because of their previous loving attention to the topic of album covers.
You can follow progress on the book on a dedicated page on their website.

Activities
The latest version of the exhibition showcases 440 covers, which is double the amount displayed in November 2021.
Visitors will have the opportunity to vote for their three favourite covers, and they can also create album cover recreation selfies to cherish forever.
The exhibition will play one track from each album so that people can enjoy the music that lurks behind these grisly delights.
Steve Goldman’s exhibition raises money for Different Strokes, the charity for stroke survivors of working age, who supported Steve after his stroke in 2019, aged just 52.
Donations can be made at the exhibition or through Steve’s JustGiving page.
Music Theme
Michelle Hodgson, Director of the Huddersfield Literature Festival, said: “We’re excited to see the Worst Record Covers exhibition return to Huddersfield and delighted to be involved in this partnership.
“Our theme this year is ‘Music’ to tie in with the Kirklees Year of Music 2023 initiative, and we have a range of music-related events and activities taking place during the Festival.”
