Across this October half-term, there are a variety of Halloween events being held across Kirklees that are aimed at the whole family.
Most of these events are of little to no cost, but some charges may be present at some of the following activities.
Spooky Barn at Oakwell Hall:
On Tuesday 25th October from 10 am to 3 pm at Oakwell Hall, there will be a variety of events occurring. From arts and crafts to ghostly-inspired tales and trails. People are also encouraged to meet Oakwell Hall’s friendly spiritual resident, the mysterious William Batt.
The Spooky Barn will be running from Tuesday 25th October to Sunday 30th October, 10 am to 3 pm every day.
No booking is required but it is £3 per child for entry.

Halloween Crafts:
On Wednesday 26th October at the Bagshaw Museum, Louise’s Art Workshops will be running Hallowe’en crafts, with a variety of different craft options to pick from.
The workshops will be at the following times on Wednesday: 10 am – 11:30 am, 12 pm – 1:30 pm, and 2 pm – 2:30 pm.
The crafts and materials will range from £3.50 to £5, with free colouring activities also available.

Snowdogs Multisensory Story & Activities:
On Thursday 27th October at Holmfirth Library (10:30 am) and Birstall Library (2:00 pm), and on Friday 28th October at Denby Dale Library (10:30 am), Snowdogs will be holding events for the whole family.
They have added an extra special multisensory Snowdog story time aimed at young primary-aged children and under 5s.
There will be a snow dog trial around the library which the children can complete for themselves as well as some colouring in, word searches and crafts for children of any age. It is free to attend.

MakerWorld Halloween:
There will be drop-in sessions at MakerWorld Piazza Shopping Centre in Huddersfield which gives children the opportunity to have fun and hands-on making and creating.
- Thursday 27th October is the Halloween session.
- Friday 28th October is Halloween costume.
- Saturday 29th October is the Halloween session with extra den building and drumming workshops around the Piazza.
It is free to attend any of these sessions.
Halloween Crafts:
On Thursday 27th October (12 pm to 3 pm) at the Tolson Museum, Louise’s Art Workshops will be running Hallowe’en arts and crafts, with a range of craft options available from £2.50 alongside free colouring activities.

Mine Experience:
On Tuesday 25th and Friday 28th of October, Cliffe House will be offering a whole new experience, where you navigate through a series of narrow passages, junctions, climbs and drops.
There are twelve spaces available per session and each session is open to children aged 6+ and adults. It costs £6 for 60 minutes.
The times for the sessions are:
- 10 am – 11 am
- 11:15 am – 12:15 am
- 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm
- 1:45 pm – 2:45 pm
- 3 pm – 4 pm

Halloween Fun Trial:
From Monday 24th to Sunday 30th October (10 am – 4 pm) there will be a family-fun outdoor trail around the grounds of Cliffe House.
The trial is family and buggy friendly, and when you collect all the clues head to the food kiosk to claim your prize.

Pumpkin Picking:
From Monday 24th to Sunday 30th October (10 am – 4 pm) at Cliffe House, there is a pumpkin patch where people may choose and carve a pumpkin of their liking.
Wellies are advised, and even though it is open to all ages parental supervision is required at all times.

Adventure Playground:
From Monday 24th to Sunday 30th October (10 am – 4 pm), the woodland adventure playground at Cliffe House will be open for all families to play with ropes, swings and a tree house.
It is free to enter and there is no need for any booking.
Day of the Dead Crafts with the Children’s Art School:
On Friday 28th October at Slaithwaite Library, The Children’s Art School MakerWorld Team will be helping children to create a pocket-sized shrine ‘Nichos’ to celebrate their ancestors and those they love.

Day of the Dead Activity Afternoon:
On Saturday 29th October, from 1 pm to 4 pm, at the Batley Library, there will be a Day of the Dead (Die de los Muertos) festival to celebrate life and remember the dead.
The festival originated in Mexico and focuses on ancestors, family, relations, friends, and even pets. It’s a time to share memories and stories together.

Film Time Halloween Film Screenings:
On Saturday 29th October, Dewsbury Hall will have screenings of Hocus Pocus at 4 pm and Rocky Horror Show at 8 pm.
What is special about these screenings is that there will be an interval halfway through, to allow people to treat themselves to some refreshments.
It is £3 per person, £10 for groups/families, and under 2’s get free entry.

Halloween Spooktacular:
From the 24th to the 30th of October, The Piazza Huddersfield will be hosting several free events for everyone. These include:
Maker World Halloween drop-in activities: run by The Children’s Art School, join in on crafty Halloween sessions with loads of activities. Running on Thursday 27th, Friday 28th, and Saturday 29th October from 11 am – 3 pm.
Make your own Halloween parade costumes and masks: workshops run by Callaloo Carnival Arts, where you can then wear your masks and costumes at the Halloween Parade on Saturday 29th October. The workshops will run on Monday 24th and Wednesday 26th from 10:30 am – 12:30 pm, and 1:30 pm – 3:30 pm.
The main event at the Piazza: On Saturday 29th October, from 11:30 am to 3:30 pm there will be a pumpkin carving workshop run by Sand In Your Eye, gigantic spooky inflatables, Haunted House Den Building, drumming workshop, face painting, and walkabout entertainment.
At 3 pm, all are welcome to the Tall Tales and Spooky Stories Parade. Fancy dress is encouraged. You can join in with the parade or just watch.
