Motorists advised to plan ahead this month as a fresh wave of essential road improvements get underway.
From bridge surveying in Batley to major resurfacing in Dewsbury, April will see a significant amount of activity on Kirklees’s highways.
The works are part of a broader effort to maintain the network and support large-scale regeneration projects.
A spokesperson for the council explained the variety of projects taking place: “There can be lots of reasons for road works, including resurfacing, making repairs, improving layouts, and replacing traffic signage and markings.”
The council also confirmed its role in facilitating external projects, stating: “We also support other organisations to carry out essential works, for example, utilities companies whose pipes and wires run under the roads, and developers who need to change road access to complete works.”
Despite the potential for delays, authorities have reassured the public: “Whatever the reason we aim to minimise disruption and complete work as efficiently as possible.”

Investing in the Future of Kirklees
The upcoming works are a small part of a much larger vision for the region.
Significant investment is currently being funnelled into transport links to bolster ongoing regeneration schemes.
“Investment in transport infrastructure is key to our wider town centre project. From potholes to bus stations, we’re committed to developing better transport links to support our exciting regeneration schemes,” the council said.
Major projects currently being delivered include the Huddersfield Rail Station Connections, the Huddersfield Southern Corridors, and the A629 Halifax to Huddersfield scheme.
