Students from Barnsley, Calderdale, Kirklees, and Wakefield are being encouraged to attend an Allied Health Professions (AHP) careers event, hosted by the South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.
The event will take place on Tuesday, 3rd December 2024, from 4:00 pm to 7:30 pm at Fieldhead Hospital, Wakefield.
The event aims to introduce students to various careers within allied health, including occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, dietetics, podiatry, and arts therapies. It will provide students with the opportunity to learn more about working in community services, mental health, children’s services, and learning disabilities.
Attendees will have the chance to explore the variety of roles available, the qualifications required, and opportunities for gaining experience through work placements and apprenticeships. Allied health professionals from across the Trust will be available to answer questions and offer insights into their day-to-day roles.
The event is open to students interested in a career in health and care, as well as teachers, carers, and parents. Students under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. The event is divided into three sessions: 4:00-5:30 pm, 5:00-6:30 pm, and 6:00-7:30 pm.
Fieldhead Hospital is easily accessible, with free on-site parking and nearby public transport.
