Huddersfield venue brings laughs, music, and family fun to outdoor audiences this August

Lawrence Batley Theatre (LBT) is bringing the heat this summer with a sizzling line-up of events as part of its Summer in the Courtyard series.

Backed by sponsor Syngenta, the outdoor celebration continues throughout August with comedy, music, family fun, and a musical mystery.

A Courtyard Full of Laughs

The Courtyard Comedy Festival returns Friday, 1st and Saturday, 2nd August, following a successful debut.

Audiences can look forward to headline performances from two of the UK’s top comedic talents.

Kiri Pritchard-McLean, known for her appearances on Live at the Apollo, QI, and Have I Got News for You, will take to the stage on Friday, while Saturday’s spotlight shines on Darren Harriott, twice nominated for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival Award and featured on The Last Leg, Mock the Week and more.

The weekend promises a packed schedule with a blend of established names and rising stars on the UK comedy circuit.

Dance, Disco and DJ Delights

Friday 8th August is shaping up to be a high-energy day in the Courtyard.

In the daytime, the Dinky Disco returns in festival style, promising family-friendly fun with live DJs, bubbles, parachute games, face painting, and interactive performances.

Children and grown-ups alike are invited to bring their best moves to the outdoor party.

That evening, legendary DJ Graeme Park headlines a sold-out show in the Courtyard, bringing iconic club vibes and feel-good energy.

In response to demand, 30 extra tickets have just been released, but they won’t last long!

Cracking Good Theatre

Adding theatrical flair to the programme is The Uncrackable Case, a musical mystery that recently previewed at LBT before heading to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Co-produced with West Yorkshire’s Front Door Productions, the show mixes satire, fairytale favourites, and bold musical numbers in a unique blend of comedy and conspiracy.

Those planning a trip to the Fringe can catch The Uncrackable Case at Pleasance Theatre from Wednesday 30th July to Monday 25th August.
