The Kirkwood are back for another year of collecting and recycling real Christmas trees across the Kirklees area.
When it comes to disposing of real Christmas trees after the festivities are over, it can be difficult, that’s where The Kirkwood can help.
In partnership with registered charity, JustHelping, The Kirkwood will be collecting real Christmas trees for recycling from Thursday 11th January until Sunday 14th January, spanning across Kirklees with the help of volunteers, and support from local charity partner, West Yorkshire 4×4, and corporate partners like FMG.
Amazon will also be supporting JustHelping Christmas tree collections right across the UK and will be supporting The Kirkwood with 4-5 vans and drivers in 2024.
This year’s collections have also acquired additional support from campaign sponsors, UK Greetings. Underpinned by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, UK Greetings is committed to taking care of the planet and the people who live on it. Fostering a culture to lead, learn, and innovate, they are proud to partner with the World Land Trust. Aligning with The Kirkwood’s social, economic, and environmental values.

Last year The Kirkwood accomplished a total collection of 1,940 trees, raising a total of £29,000, and is ambitious to grow this number.
The Kirkwood is well equipped to deal with any size tree registered for collection and with help from local tree surgeons, who have also volunteered to help The Kirkwood.
The Kirkwood will be collecting real Christmas trees in most ‘HD’ postcodes including BD19, WF13, WF14, WF15, WF16, and WF17 in return for a small donation. All trees collected will be taken to drop point locations across Kirklees in preparation for chipping. These chippings are then distributed to various venues to be used to create better footing on woodland paths, mulch for plants, and if not chipped, new habitats for woodland animals to insulate during winter frosts and snow.
The Kirkwood hopes to make this year’s collection and recycling the biggest one to date.
