The Marsden Jazz Festival returns to bring music to the Colne Valley this weekend from 8th-10th October.
While the event was unfortunately postponed due to the ongoing pandemic in 2020, this year’s festival is set to launch in full swing with a renewed focus on outdoor events.
There will be a few ticketed indoor performances taking place in St Bartholomew’s Church, but the majority of the festival will be outdoors and free of charge for everyone to enjoy.
Festival organisers say that this year’s lineup of artists and musicians is one of their most cutting-edge and progressive to date, featuring collaborations with Jazz Re:freshed and Black Lives in Music.
Artists both local and national will be aiming to bring good times and good vibes to the village, with performances ranging from individual to big band, and featuring musicians such as Annette Walker, Ivo Neame and Bex Burch.
In addition to the music, this year’s festival also sees the return of the popular Market in the Park and the Street Food Alley, which will offer food, drink and much more for visitors.
Finally, there will be two special exhibitions taking place over the weekend. Chronotrope, at the Marsden Mechanics Hall, features an immersive sound and visual installation based on a series of performances on Marsden Moor commissioned by the festival in lieu of the live event last year.
Additionally, Black British Jazz: 100 years of Now, will be featured all weekend long at the Parochial Hall, for those wishing to delve into the unique history of the artists and musicians who shaped the British Jazz scene.
The full lineup of artists can be viewed below. For more information and to book tickets for performances at St Bartholomew’s Church, visit https://www.marsdenjazzfestival.com/
