There are lots of events and groups in Ashbrow that offer all sorts of opportunities to engage with the community, socialise, and grow. Each month we are going to look at what there is and present it to you. If you have kids who are looking for something to do this week, or you’re new to Ashbrow or Huddersfield and could do with meeting some new people. Then here is a list of groups and activities taking place this week that would be perfect for you.
Chestnut Centre

Tuesdays 10 am -12 pm – Aspire Mature Adults Group
Aspire Creating Communities is an Occupational Therapy based, person-focused, dementia-friendly service, centred around building relationships with group attendees. If you are a mature adult and are looking to socialise with new people or just want to get out of the house then this is a great group of folks to spend some time with

Wednesdays 12.45 pm – 2.15 pm – Bee2gether social group.
Bee2gether social group is open to anyone who is looking to meet new people and feel like part of the community. If you are new to the area or are looking to make some new friends then this is the perfect place.

Thursdays 10 am -12 pm – Busy Bee Stay and Play
Busy Bee Stay and Play is a social group for parents/carers and babies up to 5yo. If you are a parent/carer and you looking to socialise with another parent/carer this group is perfect for you. You and your child could make bonds that go on for the rest of their lives. Games, activities, and outings are all offered for free.

Fridays 10 am – 12 pm – Bread and Butter Thing
The bread and butter thing is a mobile food club, making your weekly shop more affordable for people on low incomes. Become a member through the Bread and Butter Thing website and sign up to get your bags of great value shopping for incredibly cheap. All this is helping to build stronger communities and reduce food waste.

One-off events
Wednesday 6th March 10.30 am-12.30 am – Contact Point, Meeting with Huddersfield NPT officers.
Residents are encouraged to come and speak to their local officers and partners about any concerns they might have about the community. If you have any questions you want answered or you just want to know what’s going on, feel free to come and have your say.
Thursday 28th March 3 pm – 5 pm – Community Easter Trail
The Community Easter Trail will take place again on Thursday 28th March, Take part in the Egg hunt, and once done there are a bunch of different things for you to do. With stalls, a tombola, a chance to see the Easter bunny, a face paint and glitter station, and much more! Grab a map and join in the fun.

Northfield Hall
Mondays 6 pm – 7 pm Gospelcise – Keep fit class
Fridays 10 am – 11 pm
Gospelcise is a great place for people of faith to work out with like-minded individuals. The exercise is good for anyone of any ability and age. Good for those who are just trying to stay fit and become a little more healthy.

Positive Stepz is a small team of passionate practitioners who work to support the positive personal development and empowerment of our youth and the wider community. Positive Stepz deals in Targeted Youth Support, Informal Education, Skills & training, health & well-being, Mentoring & Leadership. There is a group meeting for young people held at Northfield Hall.

YPD or Youth Player Development is an organisation aimed at taking footballers and developing their skills to the elite levels. The programs are delivered by a professional coaching team, who are dedicated to inspiring each of the people they work with to reach their full potential.
