Black Hudu – The Good Friday Session
Friday 3rd April, 9 pm – 2 am
The positive intention to create unity and wellbeing is at the heart of everything BLACK HUDU does. This is achieved in the ritual of the Session, where potent musical frequencies take the listener on a journey to transform negative energy, free the inner self, and become one with the vibrations. These vibrations include a mixture of sounds picked from the African diaspora, such as Neo Soul, Lo-Fi Hip Hop, Bruk Beat, Deep Jazzy House, Roots & Steppas.
Music powered by the mighty Ras Amharic Sound System.
This is more than a party; it is a celebration of sound system culture, community and connection.

SisterHudd Open Mic
Sunday 5th April, 10 am – 3 pm
A stage prioritising women and gender minority voices, while still welcoming everyone who wants to come along to listen and support.
SisterHudd is especially excited that the first edition will be hosted by Monika! Passionate about the local community and creating encouraging, safe spaces to perform, Monika hosted the Wood St Open Mic and other events for several years. So it feels very special for Northern Quarter to have her back!
As a singer-songwriter herself, she knows both the power of music, poetry, and performance, and the very real nerves and challenges of getting up on stage.
She’ll also be bringing a keyboard to the first event, so there’ll be even more possibilities for different kinds of performances.
