Local groups offer exciting activities for children, young people, and families this summer holiday

As the weather continues to heat up and the school holidays fast approaching, there’s a slate of activities happening across the Ashbrow Ward this summer for children and families! Check out some of the details below.

Team Kickstart Launches HAF Holiday Club and Car Wash Fundraiser

This summer, Team Kickstart will be bringing the heat – in more ways than one – with their HAF (Holiday Activities and Food) club running throughout the six-week school holidays.

Designed to support local families and keep children active and entertained, the club promises fun-filled days packed with engaging activities.

But that’s not all – the team will also be hosting a community car wash fundraiser, giving residents a chance to spruce up their vehicles while supporting a good cause.

Empower CIC Unveils Action-Packed Summer Programme Across Kirklees

Looking for the perfect way to keep children and teens active this summer? Empower CIC has announced a range of free summer activities for children and young people across three Kirklees locations, all part of their Schools Out Provision.

Here’s what’s on offer:

⚽ Football League (Ages 8–16)

Taking place at The Zone, this weekly football league is ideal for young football enthusiasts, offering skill development, friendly matches, and a boost in confidence.

🎨 Youth Club (Ages 8–12)

Hosted at The DRAM Centre, the club features a mix of multisports and creative arts, providing a fun and supportive environment to build teamwork and creativity.

🏋️ Strength & Conditioning (Ages 12+)

Held at Empower – Movement and Wellbeing Studios, this programme focuses on building physical strength and mental resilience, helping teens grow in both fitness and confidence.
