Live music, local markets, farm animals and family fun hosted by Kirklees Council and Oakwell Hall Country Park

Residents and visitors are invited to join a day of free festivities on Saturday 3 August at Oakwell Hall and Country Park in celebration of Yorkshire Day.

With a packed programme of live entertainment, hands-on activities, local food and crafts, it promises to be a highlight of the summer calendar.

Live Music from Local Talent

A mini music festival will take centre stage, featuring live performances from bands and artists across Kirklees and Yorkshire. The full line-up will be announced in the coming weeks, offering a mix of sounds to suit all musical tastes.

Makers Market Showcasing Yorkshire Creativity

Over 50 stalls will make up the popular Yorkshire Makers Market, showcasing handcrafted goods, art, gifts and local produce.

It is an opportunity to support independent makers and take home something unique.

Farm Animals at Oakwell

Families will have the chance to meet a variety of friendly farm animals, including rabbits, guinea pigs, alpacas, calves, lambs, ponies, donkeys and goats.

This interactive feature is always a favourite with younger visitors.

Workshops and Activities for Children

A range of children’s workshops will run throughout the day, including bushcraft sessions, arts and crafts, face painting, and other creative activities.

All are designed to engage and entertain in a safe, welcoming environment.

Street Food and Refreshments

Visitors can enjoy a street food and drink market featuring some of Yorkshire’s finest food vendors.

From sweet treats to hearty meals, there will be a wide variety of options available throughout the day.

Essential Visitor Information

• Entry and parking are free, though donations are welcome to support the ongoing upkeep of Oakwell Hall and Country Park.

• General parking will be available at Colliery Field via Nutter Lane.

• Free disabled parking is available for Blue Badge holders at the Visitor Centre car park.

• The event is dog-friendly, but dogs must be kept on a short lead and must be kept away from farm animals.

• Visitors are encouraged to carshare, walk, or use public transport to help reduce traffic congestion in the area.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their picnic blankets, gather their families, and enjoy a memorable day out in celebration of Yorkshire’s heritage, talent and community spirit.
