Huddersfield Town travel down to the lion’s den to face Millwall this weekend in the SkyBet Championship on Saturday 31st October; 3 pm KO.
The Terriers currently sit 16th in the Championship table with ten points. They are four points off the play-off places and five above the relegation zone.
Town have lost their last two games in the league, losing 2-1 at home to Preston North End and losing on Wednesday 2-1 to Birmingham City away from home.
Their last win came 10 days ago against Derby County at the John Smiths Stadium, the game finished 1-0.
Millwall
Coming into this game the Lions currently sit 4th in the Championship. They are one point off 2nd place Bournemouth and one point above 7th place Norwich City.
Last time out saw Millwall win 2-0 away to Preston North End. The result made the Lions unbeaten in four league games, having not lost since the 2-1 defeat to Swansea City on October 3rd.
At the end of last season, Millwall finished 8th in the Championship and missed out on a play-off place by two points.
Their manager, Gary Rowett, has been at the helm since October 2019 and currently has a 45.7% win-rate at the club.
His previous managerial roles came with Stoke City (May 2018 – January 2019), Derby County (March 2017 – May 2018), Birmingham City (October 2014 – April 2017), and Burton Albion (March 2012 – October 2014).
His time with Millwall has produced a better win-rate than any of his previous roles.
Rowett had a long career and played for a lot of English teams. Most of his appearances came for Derby County from 1995 to 1998.
Ones to Watch
Connor Mahoney
The 23-year-old joined Millwall in the summer of 2019 and has been an impressive player for the Lions during his time there. The winger has got one goal and one assist so far this season and has gone from strength-to-strength while playing under the current manager, Gary Rowett.
Kenneth Zohore
Currently signed on loan from West Bromwich Albion, Kenneth Zohore has enjoyed a lively start to life as a Millwall player. He has been very impressive so far this season and he scored his first goal for the club in their last game as they beat Preston North End 2-0 at Deepdale.
Jed Wallace
It has been a good start to the season for the 26-year-old who is currently the Lions top goal scorer of the season. He has scored four goals so far and looks like he will be adding a lot more this season. The Millwall no.7 was the Lions’ top assister in the Championship last season and he also pitched in with double figures in goals.
Team News – Huddersfield Town
The Terriers were without Tommy Elphick (knee), Álex Vallejo (quarantine), Naby Sarr (suspended), Danny Ward (hamstring) and Rarmani Edmonds-Green (hip) in their last outing.
PREDICTION
The Terriers lead the head to head record against Millwall. Since their first encounter in 1922, the sides have met 46 times. Town have won 21 times, there have been seven draws and the Lions have won 19 times.
Last time the teams met, Millwall won 4-1 and it was their first win over Huddersfield Town since 2012.
The Lions are in much better form coming into this game, as they are unbeaten in their last four games, winning three of them.
Town have lost their last two games and they don’t seem to have much momentum at the moment.
Millwall are currently 12 places ahead of Town and it should show through the score line how much better Millwall are than Town at this current time.
Unfortunately, I do not see the Terriers getting any points out of this game, as the Lions seem to be playing too well at the moment and it seems likely that they will get another victory.
Therefore, I predict:
